Our team of farmers and interns will take you to the fields for a day to explore our organic farming techniques. Work with us on trying our various permaculture techniques, companion planting and intercropping, and learn by helping us plant, weed, mulch and harvest our bountiful fields of berries, fruit, vegetables, herbs and wild crops.

EarthShip - Greenhouse Building Workshop

We will be building a semi underground greenhouse that can be used for growing plants year round and also used as a living space.

Earth Ships are built largely with recycled materials most of which are easily available and free for the asking. Used steel-belted automobile tires, packed solid with earth, become giant 400-pound bricks that create sound-proof, fire and earthquake resistant, fortress-like walls.

Pure, uncontaminated rain water is collected from approved potable roofing material into water storage tanks that provide an abundant source of water even in areas with minimal rainfall.

We have already have a hole dug, about 4m x 8m, 1.6m deep.
The project will be to line the sides with tires, and build a passive solar greenhouse on top of the earth sheltered and insulated tire with rammed earth foundation.

Our Greenhouse will demonstrate the unique use of easily readily available tech and materials for building these durable and insulated greenhouses.
